    A circumferential sealing assembly for use with a generally cylindrical, rotatable liquid metal reaction vessel and a hood which is provided to collect hot gases from the reaction vessel. The sealing assembly comprises a cable and a cable housing. The cable housing is connected to and extends along a circumferential edge or area of the hood. The cable itself extends along, at least partly outside, the cable housing. With one embodiment, the cable is in a tight pressure fit with the reaction vessel. With another embodiment, a sheath encloses an under portion of the cable and the cable pulls the sheath into a tight pressure fit with the reaction vessel.

    Claim
    1. A peripheral seal device of a converter file for converting copper mattes, comprising. a casing made with a U-shaped cross section and open side facing the converter, means for connecting the casing with a file, a seal located in. U-shaped plane of the casing between the converter and the open side of the casing, tension means made in the form of an elongated plate passing through an opening in the end wall of the casing and connected by one end face located outside the casing, with biasing means connected to the casing, characterized in that , in order to simplify the design, the seal is made of a cable, wound from a metal wire, welded to the end of an elongated plate placed inside the casing, and placed in the casing with a gap.

    2. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that the cable is provided with a sheath made of U-about different copper segments facing the open side of the casing, placed on the cable with a tight nozzle, and in the casing with a gap.
